The building embraces the latest thinking on efficient working and reduced environmental impact. The project brief to the architects 11.04 was to create an intelligent modern office environment using recycled, natural and sustainable materials and technology, and a working environment that would be both comfortable and satisfying for staff and visitors. The project gave Stortford Interiors the rare opportunity to install a Gustaf real wood ceiling within an extensive network of M/F margins and bulkheads. Angled sloping dry-walls around the central core of the building and reception area form meeting rooms complemented by glazed partitioning. M/F and metal ceiling expanses are broken up by curves, bulkheads and upstands to add visual interest and to signify different areas for different office functions and activities. Further flexibility is facilitated by curved glazing and curved solid walls. We have recently refurbished toilet and shower areas, and are currently refurbishing their ground floor area, which involves the movement of over 200m of partitioning. “We (under many names… Marconi Radar, GEC Marconi, BAE Systems, etc.) have for the past 12 years used Stortford Interiors exclusively , from initial fit-out to the hundreds of internal alterations on many of our sites including Eastwood House. Stortford Interiors have been our main contactor for several years, and we have always found them to be very responsive - combining comprehensive survey and planning services with high quality workmanship. Refurbishment areas have included small work units for training purposes, gym with changing room facilities, disabled changing rooms complying with DDA regulations and relocation of classroom walls. The scope of works has included partitioning, ceilings, carpeting, M&E, plumbing and decorating.
